The United States and China are competing for global technological supremacy.
The Biden administration’s CHIPS Act provides $52.7 billion for American semiconductor development while its export controls are intent on stifling China's tech sector. Meanwhile, Beijing is investing heavily in its own semiconductor industry and clearly believes that technology is central to its ability to compete with the US - economically and militarily.
